Keeping your dog busy inside

It’s getting warmer!! Oh no…

As our AZ weather begins to heat up, most people will tend to stay inside more. Here are some tips to keep your dog entertained when the weather has you staying inside.

·      Play – To burn off some of that pent-up energy, play a game of tug-of-war, indoor fetch, hide and seek, or scent games with your dog.

·      Obedience training – practicing basic cues such as sit, down, and stand can be turned into a real workout for your dog. Change the cues up so that your dog goes from a sit, to a stand, to a down, to a sit, and back to a stand. Keep him guessing and when he gets it right, provide praise, excitement, treats and/or kibble as a reward. It is not only fun for you and your dog, but also can be a great dog workout.

·      Chew toys – Chewing is a normal and natural way for dogs to combat boredom, to alleviate anxiety, as well as is a great way to keep your dog’s teeth strong and clean. Select textured or nodule (bumpy) textured bones to best help clean teeth.
