We kept them back from our litters as potential service dogs in training prospects but we needed more time to evaluate them for specific clients. These dogs have been in our transitional puppy program and have some obedience training. These dogs have not undergone the same level of training as the dogs that were released from our service dog program. These dogs may not have been spayed or neutered yet.
These dogs are wonderful dogs and will make fabulous pets! They just were not destined for service dog work. If you are looking for a slightly older dog in order to avoid the quarantine from Parvo, potty training, kennel training, chewing, and nipping stages, one of these guys may be for you! Costs vary based on breed and level of training. All are up to date on vaccines and have been microchipped. For more information, please give us a call.
Rio: Female Black British AKC Labrador Retriever - Born 2.11.25
Meet Rio. She’s a sweet, British Labrador with classic Lab charm and a willing agreeable nature. Rio was originally evaluated for our service-dog track and while she shows many wonderful qualities, she did not meet our very strict internal criteria for that program. She’ll thrive as a loving family companion.
She has been working on training and manners which includes a foundation in basic obedience and ongoing house manners. She is kennel trained and settles quietly in her crate. She is well-socialized with other dogs and has been raised around children She is fully vaccinated and microchipped,
She has not been spayed as of yet. Rio is affectionate, biddable, and eager to please. She is food- and praise-motivated and enjoys training games. She has a balanced energy and is happy to play and then relax with the family. She is let out for potty breaks every 3 hours and coupled with monitoring her food and water intake, has not had any potty accidents in the house.
Rio will do best with a family that enjoys daily walks, play, and continued positive-reinforcement training.

CJ: Male White English AKC Labrador Retriever - Born 3.31.24
CJ has been trained as a Diabetic Alert Service Dog
CJ is obedience trained, public access trained, and trained to alert to low and high glucose levels. He has successfully completed his first year of service dog training. He does well in stores and with his trained task. If he will continue to be a diabetic alert dog, his skills will need reinforced to be able to become reliable with the expectations.
CJ was recently diagnosed with Valley Fever, it is a treatable fungal infection common in the Southwest. He does well on his daily antifungal medication and enjoys a normal routine. He must stay on his meds—without them, he is at risk for seizures. Routine bloodwork is and will be a part of his care. Typically it will be a few times per year to check liver values and ensure the medicine is doing its job.
He still does his job, loves to work, play, go for walks, and relax with his people. With routine vet checkups and occasional bloodwork, he can keep living his best, active life. Due to his diagnosis, he has been released from our service dog program.
Mini-FAQ
What is Valley Fever?
A fungus in desert soil (Coccidioides) that can cause varied symptoms including cough, fever, tiredness, limping, or weight loss. Some dogs need long-term treatment, especially if the infection spreads.
How is it treated?
With a prescribed antifungal (often fluconazole). Many dogs feel much better on treatment and can live active lives. Stopping meds is not an option for CJ due to seizure risk.
How often is bloodwork done?
Your vet will set the schedule, but plan on however typically every 3–6 months to monitor liver function and overall health.
What does he need from his family?
Daily medication, keeping vet rechecks, and watching for any changes (appetite, energy, coughing, limping). In return, you get a loving companion who can thrive with consistent care.
CJ is kennel trained, neutered, microchipped, and good with other dogs.
Price: $200 for an approved family who can show they can continue his medical care.
